Content New Year!!

Instead of happy, I prefer contentedness.
What is contentment?
It is freedom from the tyrany of your circumstantces that allows
perspective on your life.  Never losing sight of God and guarding
against unrealistic expectations and the lure of novelty and newness.
It may be a new year, but we will experience the same old, same old
challenges and thistles that threaten to discourage and choke.
In order to experience true happiness and contentment we
must develop in ourselves the habit of a grateful heart.
A way of looking at the world with an attitude of appreciation for
life in general and being aware of our daily blessings despite
disappointments and unsatisfied wants.
I am ever so slowly learning this.

Here's my prayer for 2011:

"A new year is unfolding~ like a blossom with petals curled tightly,
concealing the beauty within.
Lord, let this year be filled with things that are truly good~
with the comfort of warmth in our relationships,
with the strength to help those who need our help
and the humility and openess to accept help from others.
As we make our resolutions for the year ahead,
let us go forward with great hope that all things can
be possible~ with Your help and guidance."
